  About Me

Andrea Gallier

Hello! My name is Andrea Gallier and I love traveling, dancing, and writing. I'm from Houston, Texas and have lived in a bunch of different places in and outside the state over the years. I'm definitely no stranger to moving (yet it never seems to get any easier!)

I have been dancing for over 20 years and was involved in multiple dance organizations and projects during my time in college, including Dimensions Contemporary Ballet- a dance company in Nacogdoches, Dancers Against Cancer- a student organization that raises money for cancer research and patients, and several Danceworks shows- the SFA dance program's bi-annual concert. I also taught a modern workshop in New Zealand and became certified to teach dance in public schools in 2022.

I was also a volunteer for the GSSJC (Girl Scouts of San Jacinto) Backpacking program and taught girls about backpacking from 2012 to 2015. That program jump started my love of travel and is a big part of the reason I named my blog 'The Dancing Backpacker'.

I was a contributing writer for my university's newspaper, The Pine Log, for four semesters and sent back articles while traveling the world through Semester at Sea. I was also a writer, events coordinator, and Campus Correspondent/Editor-In-Chief for the SFA chapter of Her Campus during my last few semesters (Check out my HC writing here: http://www.hercampus.com/author/andrea-gallier).

I'm always on the lookout for adventures, and I am excited to share them with you here!

Warning: there may also be dancing! (:
